Duties & Responsibilities
Senior Technical Product Data Specialist About Our Client
Our client provides an AI platform that helps building-products distributors and manufacturers understand, organize, and optimize the complex products they sell, enabling them to deliver exceptional product knowledge to their customers.
Their founding team previously built and sold an AI company to a major global organization. They are now applying modern AI technology to a new space. You’ll be joining a small, fast-moving team where your work directly shapes data quality and the next generation of their AI tools.
Why This Role Matters
Their AI can extract specs at scale, but human judgment remains critical for accuracy and continuous improvement. You’ll be a quality gatekeeper for their product data / PIM platform and a key voice—and future leader—in how it evolves.
What You'll Do
• Validate & Enrich Product Records: Confirm that AI-extracted product attributes match authoritative sources (manufacturer websites, product manuals, etc.).
• Audit AI Outputs: Flag edge cases and provide structured feedback to help retrain prompts and models.
• Review the Work of Others: As you build expertise in key building-product categories, you’ll be tasked with reviewing the work of other specialists.
• Train and Mentor New Team Members: Grow into a leadership role as the team expands.
• Improve the Playbook: Start with the current SOP and refine it—tighten decision trees, add examples, and automate checks where possible.
• Shape the Product: Collaborate with founders and engineers to suggest new data pipelines, algorithms, and AI approaches based on real examples you encounter.
• Lay the Groundwork for Scale: Document best practices and help onboard or mentor additional data specialists over time.
Desired Experience & Qualification
What You'll Bring
• 5–7 years of experience in any role involving product data.
• Ideal experience includes working with product catalogs, technical documentation, or data quality for complex physical products (HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, building supply, etc.).
• Exceptional attention to detail—you notice the ¼-inch mismatch in a spec table or the extra space in a part number.
• Strong research abilities and fluent technical English for interpreting manuals and industry terminology.
• Self-directed mindset: Comfortable with repetitive tasks today and eager to automate or improve them tomorrow.
• Intermediate Excel/Google Sheets skills and comfort using modern AI tools.
• Stable, high-speed internet and a modern laptop or desktop.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience as a Manufacturing Analyst is a strong fit.
• Experience working with technical data for products like large air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, etc.
• Experience with management or mentorship duties.
• Familiarity with the building products or construction industry.
• Experience with product data management or PIM systems.
• Background working with technical documentation or product support.
Key Performance Metrics
• Accuracy rate in data validation tasks.
• Timeliness and consistency in completing assignments.
