Design Systems: Build Now or Later?

The biggest mistake I see teams make is building a design system too early. Here's why and when you should actually start one.

If you're under 5 designers and 3 products: don't. You're optimizing prematurely.

If you're over 10 designers or 5+ products: yes, you need one yesterday.

In between: it depends on whether the pain is real.
