Position Overview
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Owner/General Manager in overseeing daily operations of the pizza store. This role is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food quality and safety standards, supervising team members, and driving sales performance. The ideal candidate is a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced food service environment and is passionate about delivering a great customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Store Management
• Assist in managing daily store operations including opening and closing procedures
• Ensure all food preparation meets quality, portioning, and presentation standards
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels; place orders as needed and minimize waste
• Oversee cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with local health and safety regulations
• Manage cash handling, POS transactions, and end-of-day cash reconciliation
Team Leadership & Supervision
• Supervise, coach, and motivate front-of-house and kitchen staff during shifts
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members
• Prepare and manage employee schedules to ensure adequate staffing at all times
• Lead by example by maintaining high standards of professionalism and work ethic
• Address employee concerns and escalate issues to the General Manager when necessary
Customer Experience & Sales
• Deliver a welcoming, friendly experience for every dine-in, takeout, and delivery customer
• Handle customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally
• Support promotional campaigns, upselling initiatives, and local marketing efforts
• Monitor online reviews and work to maintain a strong community reputation
Qualifications & Requirements
Required
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role in food service or quick-service restaurant (QSR)
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Valid Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
• Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred (Assets)
• Previous pizza or fast-casual restaurant experience
• Experience with online ordering platforms and delivery service coordination
• Knowledge of food cost management and labour cost optimization
• First Aid / CPR certification
