It’s less about hustling journalists and more about coming up with genuinely interesting, high-quality stories for companies operating in the games and technology space. 📚
Big Games Machine works with B2B companies across the games industry, many of which build complex technology products. A big part of the work is understanding what these companies do and finding the stories and angles that will resonate with the industry. 🧠
If you enjoy thinking about ideas, shaping narratives, and turning them into strong campaigns, and you have some experience in PR or B2B storytelling, this could be a great opportunity to work with a high-quality, niche agency based in the UK that operates right at the centre of the global games ecosystem. 🌍
The Role
The most important skill for this role is the ability to quickly understand complex technology products and turn them into compelling stories.
Many of Big Games Machine’s clients operate in highly technical areas of the games industry, so the right person will be comfortable learning new topics quickly and identifying interesting angles that can become strong campaign narratives.
The founders currently lead much of the strategic thinking and campaign ideation, and they are looking to bring in someone who can add creative thinking, shape campaign concepts, and drive them through to delivery.
The role sits at the centre of campaign execution and client communication — helping develop ideas, shaping them into clear campaign plans, and coordinating the production of content and media outreach.
What you’ll own:
Campaign Development & Execution
• Take campaign ideas and turn them into practical deliverables
• Structure campaign timelines and deliverables
• Coordinate the production of campaign materials
• Ensure campaigns move smoothly from concept to execution
Content Development & Storytelling
• White papers
• LinkedIn thought leadership
• Podcasts
• Webinars
• Press releases
• Speaker submissions
• Industry commentary
You will often brief and manage freelancers or external contributors to produce this content.
Project Managing Creative Production
• Brief copywriters, designers and other creative contributors
• Review work and ensure quality and consistency
• Ensure deliverables stay on schedule
• Manage multiple pieces of work across different clients
Client Communication and day-to-day management
• Join regular client calls and discussions
• Help explain campaign ideas and content approaches
• Maintain strong client communication and project updates to ensure ongoing client satisfaction
• Contribute intelligently to conversations about client strategy and positioning
PR Outreach & Distribution
• Support journalist outreach
• Pitch stories and press announcements
• Maintain relationships with industry journalists
• Monitor news and identify relevant opportunities
The Person
Who we’re looking for:
• Intellectually curious
• Able to grasp complex subjects quickly
• Comfortable working with technical industries
• Organised and capable of managing multiple projects
• Confident communicating with clients as well as having a proven ability to build rapport
• Creative and able to identify interesting story angles
• Strong thinking ability and curiosity, rather than simply following standard PR processes
