Role Description
AFROMEL SA is seeking a dedicated Agriculture Teacher/Facilitator for a volunteer, on-site role located in the City of Tshwane. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering practical agricultural education as part of AFROMEL’s community skills development initiatives.
The Agriculture Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering both theoretical and practical lessons in agriculture. This includes teaching areas such as soil science, crop production, livestock care, and sustainable farming practices. The role will also involve developing training materials and curricula that address community needs and support local agricultural development.
In addition to classroom instruction, the facilitator will guide students in hands-on learning activities such as demonstration gardens, food production, and small-scale farming projects. The teacher will mentor participants and assist them in developing skills that can contribute to employment opportunities, cooperative farming initiatives, and community food security.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and practical expertise in agriculture, soil science, or horticulture
- Experience in curriculum development and agricultural education
- Practical experience in livestock management and sustainable farming practices
- Ability to teach, mentor, and inspire students in agricultural and environmental stewardship
- Passion for education, youth development, and community empowerment
- Degree, diploma, or certification in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Education, or a related field is advantageous
- Facilitator or assessor accreditation (SETA / QCTO aligned) will be an added advantage
