About the Role: Our Client's Federal Business Development team is seeking an innovative and dynamic professional to support a high-impact AI-focused customer engaged with U.S. defense entities. This individual will play a key role in establishing and maintaining productive relationships with government stakeholders, shaping and winning new opportunities, fostering collaboration, and aligning advanced technology solutions with mission-driven objectives. Their strategic mindset and expertise in navigating the public sector landscape will directly contribute to the success of both the customer and the broader business development efforts. Primary Responsibilities: Build a cohesive, data-driven strategy within the Department of Defense (DoD) market to penetrate, expand, and deliver the customer's solution. Develop and maintain close working relationships with DoD stakeholders to identify and shape new business opportunities. Serve as a leader for existing and future DoD programs within the Federal team; design, implement, and execute strategic capture campaigns DoD leadership. Work cross-functionally with account managers, marketing, government relations and engineering to ensure successful capture and delivery of innovative software solutions. Foster a culture of trust, open communications, customer focus, innovation, and continuous improvement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers; ability to translate complex topics, convince, and inspire through the written and spoken word. Lead initiatives that move the organization forward, contributing to business and financial performance in a material and meaningful manner. Deliver on financial performance commitments and build strategic market growth initiatives. Required Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in acquisition, business development, or the Department of Defense (DoD). Demonstrated knowledge of government contracting, requirements generation, fielding, and budgeting-particularly in transitioning prototype capabilities to production. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills for engaging with business partners, stakeholders, and customers. Proven ability to identify and develop key customer relationships with senior officials and program stakeholders within the defense and intelligence communities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior executives and government customers. High level of emotional intelligence with demonstrated leadership and performance-driving capabilities. Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and creative environment. Willingness and ability to travel 25-75% of the time. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance. Preferred Experience: Demonstrated success in shaping and capturing complex software programs. Recent experience engaging with Service enterprise decision-makers (e.g., Army or Air Force leadership). History of zero-to-one defense program growth, particularly within the U.S. Army or U.S. Air Force. Experience building and implementing innovative go-to-market strategies. Background as a high-energy, self-starting leader with strong adaptability and initiative.
