Role
AltGen is looking for a Senior Investment Analyst to join a start-up IPP based in Gauteng. The business currently has three projects totaling 300 MW, expected to reach financial close in early 2026, alongside a pipeline of 11 projects with a combined capacity of approximately 1.5 GW.
The role will be responsible for leading deal origination, financial modelling, capital structuring, and the financial close activities.
Responsibilities
• Lead the company's investment strategy and deal origination, ensuring all projects meet mandate fit, risk standards, and return hurdles before pipeline admission
• Design and optimise capital structures at both platform and SPV level, balancing senior debt, preference instruments, and ordinary equity to achieve target DSCRs and IRRs
• Drive the Financial Close process, coordinating lenders and advisers, and ensuring financing terms, hedging strategies, and covenants align with modelled economics
• Own the company's financial models and sensitivities, sign off key assumptions, and oversee independent model audits, valuations, refinancings, and sell-down processes
Requirements
• Postgrad degree in Finance Mathematics or Engineering
• CA(SA), MBA or CFA designation preferred
• Understanding of power project finance and advance financial modelling
• Minimum 5 years of experience in power project finance role (at investment bank, consulting, infrastructure fund or energy company)
• Experience preparing and presenting investment memoranda and approval packs to internal and external Investment Committees and investors
• Experience with leading transactions through Financial Close
