Job Overview
Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting a detail-oriented Packaging Operator to join our client’s team in Elmira, ON. In this role, you will be responsible for packaging products efficiently while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safety standards are met.
Must have reliable transportation, as there is no public transit available.
Shift & Pay
• Day Shift: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM | $18.50/hour
• Night Shift: 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM (starting Sunday night) | $19.65/hour
Position Summary
The Packaging Operator reports to the Packaging Foreperson and is responsible for packaging finished products while ensuring proper seals and accurate, legible date codes. This role includes setting up and changing over packaging machinery, piling and wrapping skids according to fact sheets, and making necessary adjustments to ensure efficient and contamination-free production.
Responsibilities
• Pile finished products on skids according to fact sheet patterns.
• Attach labels to bundles at the end of the conveyor belt as required.
• Perform quality checks including seals, date codes, bag weights, and packaging availability.
• Monitor products for cross-contamination, colour, quality, size, and shape.
• Transport skids to the wrapper and wrap according to fact sheet instructions.
• Perform product and consumables changeovers, including air-blowing systems to prevent contamination.
• Set up and change over the entire line for the next order, including programming bins and line weights.
• Change consumables such as shrink wrap, skid wrap, and tape machine rolls as needed.
• Check magnets at changeover and end of shift and report findings.
• Monitor the line to prevent or resolve jams and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Use lifting devices to move and transport materials safely.
• Accurately complete all required documentation.
• Perform sanitation duties to keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities
• Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations.
• Use required personal protective equipment and safety devices.
• Report missing or defective equipment and workplace hazards to management.
• Follow all safe work practices and participate in safety programs.
• Promote safe behavior among coworkers.

• Temperature: Hot in summer, cold in winter

Position Requirements
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with automated machinery on an assembly line
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift
• Strong attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform simple math
• Basic to intermediate computer skills with data entry experience
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
